A Poem to Celebrate Spring & Diane Rothenberg's Birthday. Illustrated with a paper sculpture / print by Jody Shields.

Mt. Horeb, WI: Perishable Press, 1975. First edition, one of 76 numbered copies, inscribed by the author, Jerome Rothenberg, to fellow author, George Economou and his wife Rochelle, on the colophon in black ink and again signed (boldly) in red, all on Nideggen and Frankfurt Cream papers, Page size: 6 x 7-1/4 inches, 32 pp. Bound by the printer: hand-sewn into doubled-folded Swedish marble paper wrappers (tan ground with pink and raspberry decoration. Handset Palatino in pink and raspberry blue, black and blind. Published in the year of Laura Evans Hamady's birth, Walter Hamady notes in Perishable Press bibliography that this was "the year of least production re: books with the arrival of Laua Evans Hamady." A scarce PP publication. Faint bend in foredge of insert containing Shields' paper sculpture, Hamady had used this design element in Gabberjabb #3, with "ribbon" extending below bottom edge of book. He told me that he saw this was not practical and after the first few printed, cut the ribbon ends to meet the bottom end of the book! He was, as usual, correct: not practical but interesting. PP#71.
