Page size: 17-1/2 x 15-1/4"; platinum image size: 7-1/8 x 9-1/2" . Bound by the Artist: acrylics and collages of acrylics, porcupine quills and reproductions of other platinum prints as well as the four original platinum prints. The front cover is three-dimensional figure of a female, the back an abstract. Housed in custom-made black cloth clamshell box with black paper label lettered in red. Sixteen leaves plus covers and inside covers all hand-painted and collaged by the artist. The title page is hand-lettered and painted by the artist. The four platinum images are mounted within french-fold pages; borders painted and collaged by the artist. The handwritten colophon reads, "These are the first successful platinum prints I ever made, printed from the first view camera negatives I ever exposed. The ladies who posed for me lived in Portland, Oregon. At their request, I took off my clothes, too. I believe I took these pictures in summer 1995. My plan is to make up ten books with these four images. I may later reproduce any and all of these photographs elsewhere. William T. Vollmann /< 10 April 1997 Bound February 1998."
